Nationally significant Trachten Dress Museum at the Greisinghaus

The Trachtenmuseum at the Greisinghaus is a nationally significant, non-publicly owned museum in Bavaria. On display is the precious trachten dress of the Ochsenfurt Gaus, with all its variations and gradations. The most ornate of all trachten dresses in Lower Franconia are an expression of wealth, joy, and grief.

Aside from the most significant feast day trachten dresses, there are Virgin Mary dress and the workday dress, as well as pearl gloves, prayer books, and fancily embroidered shoes and socks.

Expensive materials such as cashmere, wraps made from atlas fabric, beautiful tops made from velvet and silk, as well as ornate garnet jewelry crosses attest to the wealth of the farm ladies.

There are also sections exploring garment care, production, and trachten dress today.

Interested in trying on a trachten dress? The “Anziehkämmerle” offers the opportunity.
