Sunday, on public holidays: 11:00AM till 4:00PM

The Würzburg Jewish community showcases its religion at the Jewish Museum Shalom Europa. The history of the Jewish faith in the predominantly Christian city of Würzburg from 1100 to the present is presented powerfully. The museum also displays and explains the worldwide largest heirloom taken from a medieval cemetery. A visit of the synagogue is possible.

The Jewish Museum Shalom Europa is a special kind of museum. Its programming is single-mindedly focused on showing the essentials of the Jewish faith as it is practiced by the Jewish community in Würzburg today. The museum is an extension of the daily Jewish community outreach.

The exhibits incorporate unique visual displays that show Jewish life in all of its vitality to encourage Jews and non-Jews to respect each other and coexist peacefully.

The success of this mission can be seen in the fact that the museum has become a popular cultural destination in Würzburg.

This success is in large part due to 153 volunteers who are passionate about their service and have been well-trained as museum guides. They provide an introduction into the history of Jewish religion in Würzburg through the display of medieval tombstones.
