A special kind of Christmas market, with a special flair, takes place in Sommerhausen on all four Advent weekends. The historical town with its narrow streets, towers, half-timbered houses and artists is a perfect location for a magical Christmas market. Vendors and artists undergo a selection process and their creations are for sale at courtyards, in cellars, barns, galleries, and studios for a fitting atmosphere.
This Christmas market took place for the first time in 1984. It was started by the local artist and decorator Annadora Diller-Köninger and is now organized annually by the local Kultur- und Heimatverein.
