The park was created during a time period that was characterized by optimism and new developments in regards to landscape designs. In large cities, parks were constructed for the people and around villas for representation purposes. A castle garden that clearly represents all the new trends of the time was a rare exception in the world of landscape design. Alexander Graf zu Faber-Castell purchased the Schwanberg property in 1911 and began renovations. The park was added from 1919 to 1921.
The plans for the castle grounds were created by the renowned landscape design company Möhl & Schnizlein.
On hot summer days, visitors rejoice in finding shade under large Linden tree lined paths when the Castle gardens Schwanberg is full of the sweet fragrance of the trees in bloom, mesmerizes visitors with its atmosphere, the straight and then curved again trails, the large trees planted in groups, broken up by sunny spaces. This is a place that is visited again and again.
There is a guided tour of the castle Gardens every third Sunday of the month at 2pm. Everybody is invited!
