The first documented mention as the original parish church of the Mainschleife was in 1158. The current late Gothic church was rebuilt in the 15th century. The interior of the church was last redesigned in 2002.

The church is open from 1pm to 4pm on the Sundays in Advent, December 26th, New Year’s Day, and Epiphany. (For safety reasons the church will remain closed during snow and ice.)
The pilgrimage church “Maria im Weingarten” is located in the middle of the vineyards at the Mainschleife. Visitors are especially taken by the sculpture “Maria im Rosenkranz” (1524) by Tilman Riemenschneider inside the church.

Public guided tours are available every Sunday from May through October at 2:30pm: €5 per person plus €2 entry fee
